Summary of Preparation

I went through all of CBBH learning path and about half of CPTS on HackTheBox Academy, as I’ve heard these courses cover OSCP’s material, and in some cases go into more depth. I didn’t take either of the exams, since they aren’t widely recognized yet and OSCP has always been my goal. Especially considering their student discount, HTB Academy has been an effective and affordable way to get started.

I’m currently working through Offsec’s Proving Grounds Practice Labs, following TJnull and Lain’s lists, which I’ve seen commonly recommended as a solid starting point.

OffSec’s YouTube playlist with walkthroughs has been great for reinforcing methodology before going into the PWK course material and labs. S1REN’s community-led walkthroughs in this playlist and her website are especially valuable.

I’ve also been watching a bunch of miscellaneous YouTube videos from people in the community to hear a variety of experiences that people had in their passing or failing of the exam.

Notetaking

My current workflow is inspired by ByteSized Security, who also uses Obsidian with a templated directory structure as a guideline for each engagement.
